Mindfulness

Mindfulness can be defined as "the ability to pay attention in a particular way: intentionally,

in the present moment and without judgement" (Kabat-Zinn, 1994).

This capacity, besides being a personality trait, can be trained through meditation, breathing exercises and other practices with marked benefits for the individual's mental health.

The practice of mindfulness allows for a redirection of attention towards the experience of the present moment, associated with the alteration of affective and cognitive processes which underlie several psychological difficulties.

This practice has been associated with numerous positive outcomes

for the individual's mental health.
