FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW CAN ONE ACCESS TO PSYCHOTHERAPY ON THE NETHERLANDS?
There are two main categories of psychological monitoring in the Netherlands:
-
First line (short duration attendance)
-
Second line (specialised attendance shorter or longer duration).
In the Mental Health Clinic Isabel Henriques, we work with psychotherapy, which is a second line attendance category, a specialised treatment.
According to your health plan, your treatment will be reimbursed totally or not. In case your health plan only reimburses part of the treatment, the patient will have to pay the remaining part. Contact your insurance to find out what is the percentage they cover.
HOW LONG LASTS EACH SESSION?
Individual Psychotherapy sessions last for 50 minutes;
Couple's Therapy and Family Therapy sessions last for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
The sessions' frequency should be discussed with your psychologist.
In case of absence without previous warning of at least 24 hours before the time of the session, it will be charged as usual.
MY INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER 100% OF THE TREATMENT. CAN I CHANGE MY HEALTH INSURANCE AT ANY TIME?
No. In the Netherlands, it is only possible to change insurance once a year, during the end of the year. Read more here .
You can contact your current insurance to find out how it works. Sometimes, it is possible for you to choose a new insurance policy and ask the insurer to make the change for you.
