There are some steps that need to be taken before starting your psychotherapy at Mental Health Clinic Isabel Henriques. On this page, we explain the step-by-step process of registering at our clinic.

How to start?

What services are provided by the Mental Health Clinic Isabel Henriques?

  • At the Mental Health Clinic Isabel Henriques (MHC-IH), the main service available is individual Psychology/Psychotherapy consultations. In addition to this service, the clinic integrates professionals specialized in Couples Therapy, Family Therapy, and other approaches such as Mindfulness, Attachment Consultation and EMDR (Desensitization and Reprocessing through Eye Movement**)**.

  • Finally, in the Body & Mind space, relaxation and body awareness practices are integrated through a psycho-corporal approach.

What is Psychology/Psychotherapy?

  • In psychology consultations or sessions, it is expected that a therapeutic relationship will be built between the psychologist and their client, empathetic and trusting. In the sessions, the psychologist will use a set of techniques and procedures, informed by research and theories of psychological science - this method is called psychotherapy. There are different psychotherapeutic approaches associated with the main theoretical perspectives of psychological science (for example, Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis, Humanistic Psychotherapy, Psychodrama or Systemic Psychotherapy). Psychotherapy then aims to explore, investigate, understand and modify the client's behaviors, thoughts and emotions, promoting their quality of life and general well-being.

What is psychological screening?

  • The main objective of psychological screening is to clarify doubts and questions about the psychological counseling process and the need to request it. Furthermore, this screening allows for a brief screening, based on a brief clinical interview and valid and age-appropriate psychological assessment instruments, regarding various psychological and emotional difficulties or disorders (eg, depressive symptoms, anxious symptoms, interpersonal relationships ).

  • This service is free and lasts approximately 30 minutes.

  • This psychological screening is different from a structured psychological assessment process and psychotherapy consultations.
